Sasol and Deutch aircraft sign MoU to develop hydrogen based power-to-liquids SAFs

South African chemicals and energy company Sasol signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German aircraft manufacturer Deutsche Aircraft, on developing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technology. The MoU is specifically focused on the development of technologies for green hydrogen-based ‘power-to-liquids’ (PtL) SAF production. (PtL refers to the use of green energy sources to produce SAF.)

Shell qualifies BASF Puristar® and BASF Sorbead® for green hydrogen purification

BASF has worked with Shell to evaluate and de-risk BASF’s Puristar® R0-20 and Sorbead® Adsorption Technology for use in green hydrogen production. The two technologies purify and dehydrate the product hydrogen stream from the water electrolysis process which can then be used for liquefaction and transportation, as an energy source or chemical feedstock. The Puristar and Sorbead technologies are now in Shell’s portfolio for potential use in Shell’s global green hydrogen projects.
