John Thomas Royall has worked in or managed business-to-business information media and events for the last thirty years.
Royall is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with graduate studies at the University of Munich and George Washington University. He has also attended executive training in the Reed Elsevier Global Publishing Institute and Euromoney’s Executive Training at Churchill College of Cambridge University. He serves on a number of boards, including the IPAA/PESA Education Foundation and the Oilfield Christian Fellowship.
His wife of thirty years, Patty, and he live in The Woodlands, TX. They have three children and three grandchildren.
As CFO (part-time) Alan brings 30-plus years of experience in corporate accounting, private-equity finance, business consulting and M&A transactions to Gulf. Previously Alan worked in the Advisory practice of Grant Thornton LLP – as a Senior Manager/Partner for 10 years and was a recognized as a leader in the firm in delivering due diligence, merger integration, internal audit and CFO services to various middle market corporate clients and private equity firms. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Alan served as Corporate Controller at Consolidated Graphics, Inc. for over 8 years. Alan holds a Masters of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi in 1991. He currently lives in Bellaire, Texas with his wife and 3 teenage children.
Catherine Watkins oversees revenue at Gulf. With a track record that spans over 25 years in the business-to-business media landscape, Catherine has held key leadership roles, including Regional Director, where she managed operations and led growth strategies for our publications Hydrocarbon Processing, World Oil, Gas Processing & LNG, and Pipeline & Gas Journal in Western Europe and the Middle East, before taking on the role of Publisher and Vice President Downstream. Her leadership was recognized in 2021 when she was celebrated as one of the Top Women in Media by AdMonsters and Folio in the Entrepreneur category. Catherine's wide-ranging experience gives her a solid understanding of Gulf's operations and finances.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, with further studies in Finance. Catherine lives in Houston with her husband and has two adult children. Her skill in improving operations, increasing efficiency, and introducing new strategies is key to Gulf's ongoing growth.
Sheryl has over 25 years of experience in print, digital and website production and project management. She oversees the design and production of Gulf Energy Information’s publications, marketing collateral, conference materials, as well as the development and maintenance of the company’s websites. Prior to joining Gulf in 2003, Sheryl held positions at the Texas Association of REALTORS® and Silent Partners, Inc. Sheryl earned a BA in Communication from Trinity University.
Sheryl lives in Kingwood, TX, with her husband and two teenage children. Sheryl is a member of the National Charity League and serves on the board of a youth swim team.
Lee Nichols is the Vice President, Content for Gulf Energy Information. In this role, he manages all nine brands under the organization, which focuses on the various segments of the oil, gas, energy and hydrogen industries. Mr. Nichols also continues his Editor-in-Chief duties for three Gulf brands: Hydrocarbon Processing, Gas Processing & LNG and H2Tech. He has particular expertise in capital investments and trends globally for the downstream and midstream industries. He has authored more than 200 articles on various subjects within the refining, petrochemicals, hydrogen, oil and gas, and LNG industries, as well as conducted many presentations for both public and private events and organizations.
Roger Jordan is responsible for Gulf Energy Information’s corporate marketing strategy and leads the team promoting the company’s market intelligence/data products and its seven industry-specific publications and their associated events. Roger is responsible for nurturing, developing and expanding Gulf’s audience base—both domestic and international—and manages both the controlled and paid subscribers to Gulf’s historic titles. Roger joined Gulf in 2013 and was named Director of Marketing and Audience Development in 2017. Prior to Gulf, Roger worked for a high-profile, non-profit organization based in the UK.
He is a graduate of Durham University, UK, and now resides in Houston, TX, with his wife and children.
